Best of 2019 - Books, Beauty, News Stories and More!

The year (and decade as a matter of fact) are coming to a close! Here at Grace With Love we have created a positive look back at the Best of 2019. We are sharing our favourite news story, top 5 books, beauty products and fashion looks in a nostalgic look back. We hope you enjoy!

Favourite Outfits of 2019

Leopard print is a huge fashion favourite of mine and this red twist on a classic is an outfit that really stood out to me this year. This maxi dress above has quite a regal feel to it which was appropriate for the occasion as the big Game of Thrones finale was on the horizon.

Mum's favourite outfit of 2019 is a beautiful vintage look that she wore to the Wexford Races Summer Day. The dress and accessories are from Vintage Belle Wexford and shoes are An Siopa BrĂ³g.

                   Favourite Blogging Moment of 2019

Our stand-out blogging moment of 2019 was getting the opportunity to collaborate with the incredible Charlotte Tilbury Beauty. This is a brand that we have admired and purchased ourselves for a while and Charlotte is such a talented make-up artist. We also love how the brand celebrates the enhancement of natural beauty and the Old Hollywood Glamour luxury vibe of the line. This year we have been given the opportunity to try out and to create review and social media content for Charlotte Tilbury. As always you can expect honest reviews and you will find our hero products just below!

Favourite Beauty Products of 2019
(Cruelty- free)

2019 was truly the year of falling in love with Charlotte Tilbury beauty. No other brand has even come close this year and my beauty section is now 90% Charlotte Darling! Here are the hero products that are worth the hype and come highly recommended by us!

Matte Revolution Red Carpet Red - This is my absolute go- to red lipstick for creating an Old Hollywood Glam Beauty Look (see the cover photo above). Charlotte's Matte Revolution formula is without a doubt the most comfortable matte I have ever worn. It won't dry out your lips or leave them horribly flaky like many other high end brands and is also animal cruelty free! This is slightly darker than your average red lip but as it is blue toned I feel it works very well with paler skin tones.

Charlotte's Magic Cream Moisturiser - both Mum and I swear by Charlotte's iconic Magic Cream. It gives you the glowing skin that makes you just as comfortable on make-up free days as glamorous made up days. It is quite a thick and scented formula which I genuinely felt wouldn't mix very well with my oily, acne prone complexion. However the cream is literally magical and makes our skin soft and glowy rather than shiny. It contains beautiful ingredients such as Vitamins C & E, Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter, Rosehip Oil and Aloe Vera as well as the essential Sun Protection SPF15.

Pillow Talk Luxury Eye Palette- this is a really pretty everyday eyeshadow kit. It has natural golden and pinky tones to add a subtle pop of colour which in my view is very suited to blue and green eyes.

Airbrush Flawless Finish Foundation - in 2019 Charlotte released one of her most anticipated beauty launches. Airbrush Flawless Finish is a new and highly inclusive foundation line with over 44 shades! It provides a beautiful soft matte finish and is really long-wearing especially when paired with the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder - a dreamy combination!

Pillow Talk Diamonds Glossy Lipsticks - My Mum highly recommends this formula for anyone who loves the sparkle and shine of a gloss in a beautiful little compact tube! The mineral based glitter pigments are environmentally friendly and super shiny!

Favourite Books of 2019

According to my Goodreads page I read a total of 21 books this year across various genres su. Here are my top 5 recommendations

  1. Circe by Madeline Miller  Mix greek mythology, female strength, captivating story-telling and you create Circe, a modern re-telling based on a magical ancient world - shop here
  2. Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid If you are a fan of classic rock bands such as Fleetwood Mac you will fall head over heels for Daisy Jones and the Six. It reads like a fascinating Rolling Stone account- shop here
  3. 1984 by George Orwell - Not for the faint of heart George Orwell's terrifyingly brilliant dystopian novel is extremely poignant in our complex political landscape- shop here
  4. Normal People by Sally Rooney 2019 has been an incredible year for Rooney, an Irish author who has a rare talent for observing and creating art from the intricacies of human behavior and interaction. Her work is sharp and intelligent and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future- shop here
  5. Serving the Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain This is a fascinating and sensitive account of the life and work of Nirvana front-man, grunge rock ring-leader and artistic soul Kurt Cobain. Must read for fans everywhere - shop here
